Dunsany looked much more like the side of old, when they took maximum
points from the Navan outfit under floodlights in Simonstown.Dunsany
were as near to full-strength as they have been since February or
March. Sandra Coleman regained her position between the post although,
it has to be said that Noreen Sheridan had done more than a good
job while deputising for her during the summer monthes.
The full back line were all very experienced and it showed from
the begining of the match. Alison Lynch was dominant under high
and low ball alike. While Shirley and Nicola turned alot of Simonstowns'
attacks into Dunsany counter attacks.
Skinny, had an incredible game and like so many times before was
probably the difference in the two sides. Fielding, tackling, blocking
and distribution were all key elements in her display in Simonstown.
She was definitly a candidate for the lady of the match tag.Cliona
and Sinead used the wings to great effect when showing
for Sandras kickouts and over all had extremly strong games.
Aileen and Frances both had good games, but the
later particularly so. She chipped in with scores of her own but
more importantly intercepted and broke up Simonstown passing movements
on many occasions.
Despite the fact that the forwards squandered quiet a few chances,
as a unit they gelled well. All six registered scores. Jenny Cusack
had a particularly strong game as did Lisa Tyrell. Stephanie Horans'
contribution when she came on as a subsititute was extremly noticable
she nulified the influnce of Sinead Dooley on the game.
Deirdre and Mary Ellen were brought into the defense
to provide the extra energy that was needed to ensure that Dunsany
didn't relenquish their leed. Over all a good night.
