This was Dunsany's first run out of you the new year, it was good to make a start and shake off a few of the many cobwebs. The day was originally scheduled to hold the first match of our league campaign, but there were too many seniors missing so we opted for the friendly instead. A change of personel in the goals, saw Sandra Coleman taking a much anticipated berth in the forwards, and Skinny Dennehy holding the fort, between the sticks. Skinny was served well by her, full back line through-out. Collette "Hands" O' Connell was a tower of reliability. High balls, being pumped in by the Dunboyne attack proved fruitless, as Hands either caught or parried them. Her corner backs, bursting out and cleaning up as they went. Especially effective in this role was Joanne Cunningham, who not only gained critical possession, but also distributed it effectively. Nicola and Alison Lynch, also had a fantastic game, the later looking a natural as she donned the number 6 for the first time. Sinead Cusack, was given a torrid time by the Dunboyne number 12, who was full of running but Sinead still managed to delay her long enough, to force her into over-carrying or pressuring her to misplacing her kick.

Around midfield, Aileen Donnelly and Frances Lynch, looked determined and sharp, despite already having a camogie match under their belt that day. The pair continued to give quality ball to the forwards. They used the wings effectively and offered options with their forward running. The first goal coming from a quick and direct ball, into the forward line which was finished by Sinead Browne. Sandra Coleman took her opportunity to impress out field with both hands, and was a constant menace around the 40. She showed great vision and awareness of the people around her. Lisa Donnelly was as per usual...flying, showing great speed and strength. Karen Wards' involvement with the county team is already reaping rewards for Dunsany, she may feel unhappy about not getting on the score sheet herself but should take solace in the fact that she provided so much opportunity for the inside forward line. Debbie Burmas contributed 2 points and was making intelligent runs all day. Grainne in the far corner gave options for the half forward line through-out. As the match wore on, legs did inevitably tire, but options were on the line in the form of Teresa Mangan and Karen Lynch, who both worked hard, in the forward line. Teresa was especially unlucky not to score
