That
First Senior Title! |
A
day I can safely say I will never
forget. No one who was in the Dunsany
dressing room at half time will ever
have trouble recalling the half time
team talk. Intimadating as the speech
that Sean Dempsey delivered was, it
must have worked. There was a hunger
a willingness to win displayed by
the girls on the pitch that was matched
on just one other occasion(1999 Senior
Final). Christine O'Brien and Ann
Marie Dennehy, lorded midfield.
Old friendships with member of the
Ultans contingent, were soon put on
hold. Shirley DIxon battled hard and
won in key areas of the pitch. Trish
Grimes could do no wrong. Sixty minutes
later, Dunsany's proud record of winning
at the highest level was born, The
dominance began, players would grow
stronger and faster, the underage
teams would be feeding the junior
team and in turn the junior would
feed the senior team. We had the cup
for the first time and we intended
to hold on to it |
